Haiti’s Prime Minister Ariel Henry has resigned, in the wake of escalating violence and political instability within the nation. Following Henry’s resignation, a council has been sworn in to lead the political transition process. The formation of this transitional council is part of a broader effort to restore order, normalize the political climate, and ensure a path forward for the violence-ravaged nation. The transition is expected to include reforms that address the root causes of the violence, enhance security, promote human rights and establish a plan for holding fresh elections. It is hoped that these measures will initiate a new chapter for Haiti and its people.
