    Open seating no more? Southwest CEO says airline is weighing cabin changes

    Southwest Airlines is known for its open seating policy — no assigned seats — in which passengers can choose their seat once they board the plane. However, the company’s CEO, Gary Kelly, mentioned that the airline is considering making changes to this policy. It hasn’t been clarified what these changes will be or when they will be implemented. Kelly noted that open seating has been a significant part of the Southwest brand identity for a long time, so any potential changes would be seriously contemplated. The global pandemic, however, has forced airlines to reconsider and adjust their standard operating procedures.
